Weight of water melon

Suppose you buy a water melon of 100 pounds that are 99% water. After leaving them outside for a day, they are now 98% water.

What will be the weight of the melon now?

Initially water melons were having 99 pound water and 1 pound solid material....

now after drying it, it will be having same solid material ie 1 pound..

so total weight after drying it ...let W = 98x + 2x ......(a)
and second condition by above statement ..   2x = 1 pound....(b)

hence by putting the value of x = 1/2 in eqn (a)

W = 50 pound

100 pound total weight, hence weight of solid part of millon is 1 pound as it is 1%

after water vapourisation, solid part of millon is 2% of millon weight

since 2% weighs 1 pound
hence 100 % would weigh 50 pound (100*1/2)

hence millon is now 50 pound left...
