Find the ages!


The investigator asked Jaclyn about her children. Jaclyn said "I have 3 daughters, Alice, Betty, and Cindy. The product of their ages is 36. The sum of their ages is the same as the street number of our next door neighbor."

The investigator went next door and came back and said: "Still not enough information". Jaclyn said: "Oh, I forgot to tell you that my oldest daughter is now in school".

The investigator found out the ages of her daughters immediately. Do you know their ages?

they are 2,3,6 0r 1,4,9or 2,2,9. because there exists oldest daughter.

The ages are 2,2,9.
Product of ages = 36 which implies the possibility of 1,1,36 or 1,2,18 or 1,3,12 or 1,4,9 or 1,6,6 or 2,2,9 or 2,3,6 or 3,3,4
of these 8 possibilities, after taking the second condition, we get the possibilities of 1,6,6 or 2,2,9 because the summations are 38,21,16,14,13,13,11,10 respectively of which we get same number in only two cases. this is because he was not able to answer yet.
as there exists the oldest daughter, the ages should be
2,2,9
